How Babies Benefit

CranioSacral Therapy for Babies

How do newborns benefit from CranioSacral therapy:

Sometimes, experiences during gestation and delivery can produce changes in the developing fetus or newborn that can be addressed with CST. In utero, they can be privy to the same stresses the mother is going through therefore causing stress on organs or systems that are devolping. During childbirth, the baby can have compressions of the spine due to a prolonged delivery or difficult delivery that can compromise the Central Nervous System.

Babies who have trouble with initial sucking or colic or breathing problems may just be exhibiting compression of some cranial bones or spinal chord twisting. Irritable babies can be calmed down with the simplest of adjustments.

Toriticollis is one of those conditions where CST can help ease the spine into relaxing and supporting the natural ability of holding the head properly.

Sometimes with just a few sessions babies will eat, sleep and rest easier. Change is made quickly with newborns due to the gentleness and non invasive techniques of CranioSacral therapy. It is literally allowing “unwinding” of the spine by just holding the baby’s head and bottom and allowing them to move in the direction to work out their direction of ease. It is letting nature take its course.
